I’m terrified.

I’m more frightened than I’ve ever been in my life, more than I ever thought was possible. More scared than I was before I graduated college, so afraid of failing at adult life that I considered suicide and extreme self-mutilation. More scared than I was in my…

I disagree with everything here.

I’m fine with ‘forcing’ medical procedures on kids. Otherwise I’d be dead. Simple as that. While you can argue all you like about how it alters their personality…they’re toddlers. They don’t have a fully developed personality yet. The illness does not define the person. But it stops it early on so that they can develop, in other ways, which will all in all benefit them. These children are not going to look back and be like “Oh, yeah, I remember being autistic I really wish my parents didn’t do that to me.”

As for teens and adults with autism, they will not force it. If you are fine with it, awesome. Live with it. But there are PLENTY who are not fine with it, and they should have the option, simple as that.

And no, this is not ‘genocide.’ This is akin to saying that having a cure for asthma, or depression, or bipolar disorder, or being paralyzed, or AIDS is genocide. But it’s not. It’s offering a choice for those who are capable to choose (be they the individual or parent’s of the individual if they’re a child) to not have to deal with it or suffer from it or watch their child grow up with it.

As someone with both Aspergers and depression, FUCK THAT COMPARISON, okay? A mental ILLNESS is something that should be cured, because it’s something that’s wrong. A learning disability is something that’s a PART of you, so you don’t cure it, you MANAGE it, because the way your brain is set up clashes with the way most of the world is set up but that doesn’t mean the way your brain is set up is WRONG.

Guess what, I also had to undergo medical procedures to save my life when I was a few days old. ALSO NOT A VALID COMPARISON.

I don’t want to be rude but if you’re not on the spectrum, you really need to sit down here.

Jegus cod this is infuriating. I don’t necessarily agree with all of the OP’s language but they were coming from a place of well-justified rage.

IMPORTANT: FBI tells citizens to spy and collect info on internet users who use proxies (shield IP).
Do you use proxies, VPN or Tor? Or go to Starbucks to access the internet. Are you set on always paying in cash? According to the FBI and DOJ, you may be a terrorist.
A flyer designed by the FBI and the Department of Justice to promote suspicious activity reporting in internet cafes lists basic tools used for online privacy as potential signs of terrorist activity.
The document, part of a program called “Communities Against Terrorism”, lists the use of “anonymizers, portals, or other means to shield IP address” as a sign that a person could be engaged in or supporting terrorist activity.
The FBI and DOJ asks ordinary citizens to gather information like license plate number, spoken language, name and ethnicity and submit it to the FBI if a customer at an internet cafe is using a proxy or shields their IP.
Since when was internet privacy a crime? With the FBI and DOJ concerned with citizens shielding their IP, will it soon become a crime?

“people aren’t terrorists because they do different things but go ahead and report em anyway” lmao

WHAT. THE FUCK.

This pisses me right the fuck off, because number one on there is “people not wanting others to see what’s on their screens”.  I’m sorry, I often write better in my local coffeeshop than at home because sometimes I need to get out of the goddamned house, and no, of course I’d prefer not to have people reading my fucking novel over my shoulder, thank you very much.
That’s not the only problem I have with any of this, but it’s probably the most relevant to my personal, not-on-the-internet life, to be honest.  Then again, given all the rest of it, everyone in my house would be considered a terrorist.

I don’t even know how to begin with this. It sounds like something out of a movie.
I know that dictators in history acted like this… spy on your friends, report them if they are doing anything even a little strange. I am still being used to seeing it right now.
This just makes me want to do all of these things (and, I do some of them anyway… I hide my screen because I don’t like people to look at what I am writing, I act nervous because I am socially nervous) because I am so uncomfortable with anyone like this wanting me to be transparent.

I have so many things to say about this, but they’re all getting tangled up in this massive web of 1984 vs actual US history in my brain.  Seriously, did we just suddenly take a jump back to the ’50s and nobody told us?  Are we looking forward to the HUAC being resurrected?  What the fuck is happening in this country?

I don’t want people to see what’s on my screen because it’s pictures of Tintin in Captain Haddock’s jumper and I don’t feel like getting into an explanation!

Fox news still sucks.

Breaking news, I know.

Not only is this map over 20 years old; Yugoslavia is wrongly labeled as Bulgaria, and Hungary as Serbia. Regardless of Fox’ political views, a professional news network making mistakes like this should never be taken too seriously.
Previously: According to Fox, Egypt is now in Iraq

I didn’t know Iowa was boot shaped or bordered the Mediterranean! Thanks for letting me know, Fox!

Okay, I know geography isn’t my strong point, but I think they’re missing a few countries here.
